High-Rise Building Design brings a set of structural challenges that low-rise construction simply doesn't face, where height itself becomes one of the most demanding design variables an engineer must manage. This training course builds advanced, practical competency in designing tall buildings, applying modern structural engineering principles to the unique behavior and demands of vertical construction.
Participants will explore the structural systems that make modern skyscrapers possible, and develop a strong technical grasp of how wind loads act on tall, slender structures and how to design against them. The course also builds solid competency in seismic design for high-rise buildings in earthquake-prone regions, and reinforces the design of concrete structures as the primary structural system used across much of the world's tallest buildings.
