Summary

The British Academy for Training and Development offers a training course in Electric Vehicles. This course is provided by a team of internationally experienced energy engineers and will provide participants with up-to-date knowledge on how to assess the benefits of EV adoption and understand the EV and charging market. The course enables participants to achieve success locally and internationally in the electric vehicle industry. Electric Vehicles course will also provide students with elements of engineering, sociology, environmental science, political science, economics and business administration to assess, analyze and implement the diffusion of electric vehicles in relation to their use.

Objectives and target group

Who should attend?

    •  Those who have both a basic and advanced understanding of the industry.
  • Mechanical and electrical engineers, designers, project managers, and others working on or transitioning to hybrid vehicle development. -For electric powertrains.

How attendees will benefit?

After completion of the course, delegates will understand:

  • Define and analyze the basic electrochemistry of battery operation and performance requirements for HEV, PHEV, EREV and fully electric vehicle applications.
  • Estimate cell size to meet specific requirements.
  • Create a cradle-to-grave or cradle-to-use list of materials used in each type of automotive battery.
  • Compute the temperature behavior of simple model battery cells and assemblies.
  • Describe the functions performed by the Battery Management System "BMS".
  • Describe different approaches for estimating state-of-charge, health, power, and energy.
  • Applied brushless DC and induction motor operation to his HEV and EV vehicles.
  • Define motor torque-speed curves and apply them to electric and hybrid electric vehicles.
  • Explain the function of buck converters, boost converters and transformer converters.
  • Compare and contrast various industry and regulatory standards for hybrid vehicle components, batteries, and charging systems.
  • Discuss key considerations in hybrid and electric vehicle development and the performance requirements of various vehicle systems.
  • Define key vehicle system requirements and identify how to select and size the best system components for those requirements.
